Brake pads on an electric bicycle
With an electric bicycle, the brake pads or brake blocks often wear out faster.
When you don't have a motor, you are more careful not to pedal for nothing. Your ride will be smoother, for example, to reach full throttle at a red light and lose all your proudly expended energy when braking.
But when you have a motor, you're less sparing of effort because you pedal with ease. So you tend to brake more often with a heavier bike. This wears down the brakes more.
We often check the condition of the brake pads or brake blocks. And to spare them, we take care to eco-drive in order to brake as little as possible. It's more economical and it's also a safer riding style for everyone.
